SRR elevates three senior professionals

Cory J. Thompson, CFA

CHICAGO, IL / February 1, 2011 -- Stout Risius Ross (SRR), a financial advisory firm, today announced Mr. Cory J. Thompson, CFA has been promoted from Director to Managing Director in the Valuation & Financial Opinions Group. He is based in the firm’s Southfield, MI office.

Mr. Thompson has extensive experience providing a broad range of business valuation and financial advisory services for public and private enterprises. He specializes in the valuation of debt, equity, and derivative instruments, enterprise valuations, and intangible asset valuations for financial reporting, corporate strategic planning, estate and gift taxation, shareholder disputes, and other tax, corporate, and litigation matters.

Mr. Thompson is well versed in FASB ASC topics regarding business combinations, impairment testing, share-based payment awards, and fair value measurements and he has experience with the expectations of financial reporting advisors and regulators.

Mr. Thompson serves as co-leader of SRR’s Industrials practice and has significant experience in valuing industrial companies including automobiles & components, capital goods, and transportation.
Mr. Thompson holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University.  He is currently a member of the CFA Institute and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors. He has also earned the right to use Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Michael N. Kahaian, CPA/ABV, CFE, CFF, CVA

CHICAGO, IL / February 1, 2011 -- Stout Risius Ross (SRR), a financial advisory firm, today announced Mr. Michael N. Kahaian, CPA/ABV, CFE, CFF, CVA has been promoted from Director to Managing Director in the Dispute Advisory & Forensic Services Group.  He is based in the firm’s Southfield, Michigan office.

Mr. Kahaian provides dispute advisory services for internal corporate investigations, forensic accounting issues, and computer forensics,  testifies in a variety of venues including deposition, arbitration, bench and jury trials, and has been qualified as an expert witness in regards to accounting issues, economic damage assessments, and business valuation in a variety of disputed matters.
     
Mr. Kahaian’s experience encompasses a wide range of industries including financial institutions, construction, entertainment venues, health care, manufacturing, professional practices, retail, high tech businesses, insurance, education and charter schools, telecommunications and transportation, real estate, and automobile dealerships. Mr. Kahaian has also provided valuation and consulting services for clients with international operations.

Mr. Kahaian is a Candidate Member of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and Past President of the Detroit Chapter ASA. He is also the Vice-Chair of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) Fraud Task Force.  Additionally, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA).

Patrick A. Brown

CHICAGO, IL / February 1, 2011 -- Stout Risius Ross (SRR), a financial advisory firm, today announced Mr. Patrick A. Brown, has been promoted from Director to Managing Director in the Valuation & Financial Opinions Group.  He is based in the firm’s Cleveland, Ohio office.

Mr. Brown is responsible for business development and account management activities at SRR.  He has extensive experience working with public companies, private companies, transaction attorneys, financial sponsors, and accounting professionals throughout the Ohio region.

He focuses on valuations associated with mergers & acquisition allocations, stock options, tangible & intangible assets, and a variety of other financial and tax reporting matters. He also works with clients regarding fairness and solvency opinions, divestitures, recapitalizations, restructuring, and other transaction related valuations.

Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University.  He is currently a member of the Association for Corporate Growth and Financial Executives International for both the Northeast Ohio and Cincinnati chapters. Mr. Brown also serves on the board for the American Cancer Society Greater Cleveland Golf Classic.
