David N. Paris is a Managing Director in the Dispute Advisory & Forensic Services Group. Mr. Paris has more than 20 years experience addressing damages issues in complex commercial disputes.
He has applied economic analysis to damages issues in complex commercial disputes, including patent and trademark infringement, breach of contract, false advertising, business interruption, and antitrust violation. He has provided expert testimony on damages issues, including lost profits and reasonable royalty damages. He has also provided expert testimony on economic issues relevant to granting an injunction.
Mr. Paris has conducted economic market analyses in a wide range of industries, including semiconductors, personal computers, VoIP telephony services, telecommunication equipment, medical devices, construction projects, pharmaceuticals, professional sports, electronic programming guides for cable and satellite television, fast food franchises, industrial and agricultural machinery, automotive parts, commercial real estate, pet food and numerous consumer products, including nutritional supplements, soft drinks, insecticides, and contact lens solutions.
Mr. Paris has also advised clients on financial and economic considerations in licensing negotiations, pre-litigation damages assessments and damages assessments in litigation settlement discussions. He has also assisted attorneys in all phases of the discovery process. In his work, he has addressed a number of damages issues including, lost sales, incremental costs, manufacturing, sales and distribution capacity, lost profits, price erosion, convoyed sales, reasonable royalty rate, royalty sales base, and unjust enrichment. These matters frequently involve large U.S. and international corporations, and require economic analysis of domestic and/or international markets and global supply chains. He has extensive experience working with international corporations, and, in that regard, has travelled to Japan, the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia.
Prior to joining SRR, Mr. Paris was a Director at Huron Consulting Group. Mr. Paris is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Economic Association, the Intellectual Property Owners Association and the Licensing Executives Society.
